Plot: The day before Globodyne’s stock tanks, a la Enron, and its pension fund evaporates, the corporation’s CEO and CFO set up middle manager Dick Harper to be the public face of the disaster. Jobless, and with no savings, pension, or home equity, Dick and his wife Jane sink slowly into poverty. He looks for work (as do all former Globodyne executives); he even tries day labor with the relatives of their Mexican nanny. A foreclosure notice sends Dick and Jane over the edge into a life of blue-collar crime. Then, as things finally look up, the report of an looming indictment pushes Dick and Jane toward a denouement with the real criminals, the white-collar guys.

Have you ever thought of robbing a bank?
I know its not something to joke about but when you’re down in the dumps do you ever imagine robbing a bank? If so, what kind of senario is it and who would drive the getaway car? I imagine it as a "Fun with Dick and Jane" situation. I have to laugh so much lol.

Not in reality, but when watching a movie like the Italian Job or Inside Man…sure!

In reality however, it’s not worth the effort – at least not in America, where banks keep such little amounts of money on hand, you’d have to rob several a day to make it pay! (don’t believe me? If you have a lot of money in the bank, go and try to close your account and get your money out…most can’t do it…they have to "order" your money from the Treasury Department b/c they don’t carry much more than 10K on hand on any given day.)

Yes, but how would that solve any of your financial troubles? If you get caught, you’ll go to prison where you won’t even be able to get a job and they’ll rape you. Then you’ll feel remorseful the rest of your life and you’ll become a depressed person wandering in the streets (if you get out) seeking to commit more crimes to vent your resentment and bitterness.

If thoughts were sanctioned, we’d all be in prison.

Yeah, after I saw that movie "Inside Man", it got me all excited about robbing a bank. Then I realized that I’m not nearly as clever or as amoral as to actually go through with it.

I have only thought about robbing convenience stores. mostly, because they are more convenient to rob, since many are open 24 hours. If you rob a bank, you might have to take off from work to do it. or do it during your lunch hour.

I never considered the getting away part. I just assumed that I would get caught right away. This is actually part of my retirement plan. Three warm meals and a bed. You cant be that for the good life.
